Dog Training Basics
Here are some dog training basics to help
you get started.
Understanding Your Dog’s
Character. During dog training
sessions, take some time and effort to analyze
your dog’s behavior and how a dog’s
mind works. Do some researches on your puppy
or dog’s breed, typical characteristics
and such. Different breeds of puppies or
dogs have different characteristics and
they may react differently in a given situation.
Consistency in Dog Obedience Training.
When dog obedience training is done in a
regular basis, your dog will be more adaptable
to the training routine and you will get
to know more about your dog’s behavior
and personality. Having a clear understanding
of your dog’s behavior helps you to
find better ways to train your dog that
best suits your dog’s personality
and characteristics. For instance, here
are some questions that you need to consider
during dog obedience training:
- How can you further motivate your dog
for the dog obedience training? Food rewards
or toys?
- How does your dog deal with distractions?
- Does your dog have any aggression issues?
- How does your dog respond to your command?
Motivate Your Dog. Most
dogs have very short attention span –
around 15-20 minutes and they tend to start
losing focus after that. So keep the dog
obedience training session short and sweet,
say 20-30 minutes a day to achieve optimal
results. Another method to motivate your
dog is REWARDS. When training your dog,
you need to find out what motivates your
dog. Most dog loves rewards especially food
rewards. So take this advantage as a guide
to train your dog. |
